We’re growing - we're renewing - we're planning for a marvelous future!

In 1910, a small group began meeting at the Beverly School, 2 miles southwest of Burton and Division avenue, to begin a new church - a mission to the "outskirts of Grand Rapids" - a community that was not yet incorporated, but was called "Wyoming Park." Chartered in 1912 as the Wyoming United Brethren Church, this congregation quickly outgrew the small school house and began plans to build. In 1914, at a cost of $6000, the small brick church was constructed, largely by volunteer labor supervised by Pastor William Blankinship, a former contractor-turned-pastor. The first service was held in October, 1914.

Three building remodeling projects and two denominational mergers later, The Wyoming Park United Methodist Church stands as a beacon to the people "in the park" - continuing the legacy of mission as we "bring hope, seek God, and share love" with our neighbors from Porter Street to Haiti. In 2011 we will begin a year-long centennial celebration of the ministry and mission at Wyoming Park Church.
